Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Review

One of the summer collections I was most excited about when I first caught a glimpse of the products was definitely the Urban Decay Summer 2016 Collection. They just always hit the nail on the head with their limited editions, collaborations and they did such an amazing job with this collection as well. From the gorgeous summery packaging to the actual product performance - no matter what you decide to pick up from this collection it'll be a winner. Today's post is a review on the new Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector.

The Urban Decay Naked Skin One & Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector is pretty much everything I look for in the perfect summer base and has quickly become my new favourite light foundation. I picked up the shade light medium and I think it's the perfect match for my skin tone when I'm a bit more tanned. This is an oil free formula that provides a sheer coverage and SPF 20 protection while helping to achieve a beautiful, even complexion. Instantly blurs imperfections, evens out the skin tone and acts as a skin treatment as well. The formula contains vitamins, a range of moisturizing ingredients as well as SPF and a plant-derived ingredient that promises to improve the texture and tone of the skin.

This photo was taken in natural day light and I applied two pumps over my entire face. The coverage works perfect for me and the application is so easy. The foundation melts right into skin with a refreshing feel that’s dewy to the touch at first but sets to a smooth, almost matte finish within a few seconds. I didn't use a primer or powder and it was surprisingly very long-lasting and extremely comfortable to wear throughout the day. What I love about this foundation is the lovely lightweight feeling on the skin, it doesn't feel sticky and it almost looks like I'm not wearing any foundation at all. I have quite oily skin sometimes but I didn't experience any shine or oil from it which is just amazing!

I'm all about lightweight coverage in the warmer months so I'm really excited about this new launch. For me, this product is a win although I do wish that it had a higher SPF. It comes in 6 different shades and you get 40ml which is brilliant considering that foundations usually only have 30ml. I also really love the packaging, it comes with a really handy pump, although I found that it took a little while to get the product pumped out when you first use it, but in this sense it's probably a good thing so you know the product is brand new and clean.

One and Done

I can 100% agree with this statement. I absolutely love the idea of a product that I can apply in under 5 minutes in the morning that provides a lovely sheer, natural looking coverage while still giving me skincare benefits. Coverage wise, this one definitely goes a step beyond your typical BB cream, I'd say you can definitely build it up to a medium coverage without ending up looking like a cake face. I think this is the perfect product to give your skin a subtle glow which is basically all I need in the summer. I'm also very impressed with how well it lasted on my skin even after a 2 hour walk in the sun it still looked perfect. Application wise, I found that it works really well with the Zoeva 104 Buffer Brush or Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush, but I would like to try and see how it performs with a beauty blender. Overall, I'm really happy with this product and I think it's the perfect foundation to take with you on your next summer holiday!

5 Ways To Grow Your Instagram

I know that there are mixed opinions on this, but I think that having a theme is extremely important and definitely something to consider when you're thinking about growing your account. Now, my theme is by no means perfect, and it doesn't have to be, but I have been working on being more thoughtful about what I post. To create a consistent feed, you need to view your Instagram as a whole. My go-to apps to edit my Instagram photos are Afterlight, VSCO and Facetune. In my opinion, VSCO is the best free app you could possibly want to pimp up your feed. The filters are varied and you can create some really stunning effects with it. You also get the basic editing options like brighten, sharpen and colour controlling. I like that you can prearrange your feed and preselect your favourite filters and have them at the front. That makes it super easy to keep up with a consistent colour scheme.

Hashtags are a great way to find new Instagram Accounts and they're also amazing for gaining new followers as they are typically used by like-minded people. I use hashtags that apply to my content and if new people find my feed through a certain hashtag, say #beautyblogger, they are most likely to follow to keep up with my future content. I typically use a handful of relevant hashtags, some of them that are currently trending and some of them I use almost every time I share a new photo.  If you're not sure which hashtags to use on your photo, there are a few questions that you should consider first. What products or brands are in the photo? What is the overall theme of the photo? Who should see this photo?

Whenever I post a new photo, I always make sure that I'm tagging brands or people in the photo. Doing that can be extremely beneficial for your account. This will allow other people looking at tagged photos of that specific account to find you and you might even get noticed by your favourite brand. If they like your picture, this can sometimes even lead to them giving you a shoutout on their page by re-posting your photo. Recently Bioderma liked and re-posted one of my photos that I had tagged them in and I got a few new followers that way. Tagging people in your photos is such an easy way to get noticed.

So many people scroll through Instagram without liking and commenting, even though they might love the photo they're seeing. Everyone loves getting likes and comments, so why not be the person who shares the love? I always try to leave a nice comment and like every photo when I'm scrolling through my feed in the morning. By commenting I definitely don't mean those annoying "follow4follow" or "check out my account" comments, I mean genuine, engaging, lovely comments that will put a smile on someone else's face. People are most likely to remember and check out your account that way. I also think that it's important to reply to the comments you're getting on your photos as well.

Sharing your Instagram account and photos on other social media platforms like Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest and Facebook can really help you get noticed and increase your number of followers. Instagram makes sharing content super easy, I usually share my photos on Twitter and Pinterest and you can easily connect your accounts in your profile settings.
I hope you guys found this post helpful and let me know your Instagram Accounts in the comments!
