The past week, my family and I spent an incredible holiday at the Madikwe Game Reserve, located in South Africa along the Botswana border. I'd been to Africa before so I knew how incredibly beautiful this country is, but I had a absolutely no idea how breath taking this adventure would be. Going on a Safari is one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had and I couldn't wait to be finally back in Africa. We stayed at the "Morukuru Family Farmhouse" lodge and I must say, this is the most beautiful place I've ever been to in my whole life. The rooms were so gorgeously established and modern I literally felt like a princess when I entered.

Our daily routine consisted of getting up at 4.45 am to go on Safari and then returning to the lodge where we had an incredible breakfast. We then went swimming in the pool and enjoyed the amazing weather. (It was almost like taking a hot bath :P) In the afternoon we would have lunch and go back on Safari until the evening. Every night, we had a delightful dinner sometimes even in the areas where all the wild animals could easily sneak around us. It was brilliant!

These animals are called Mongoose and they look so cute at first especially the little baby ones but they're actually naughty little creatures with very sharp claws and teeth. They were all around the lodge and always on the hunt for our food :P

I really want to thank all the people working at Morukuru as they have been so nice and helpful! Our rangers Warren and Anthony were so nice and funny, there has never been a dull moment with them. We got to see so many different animals it was amazing! We even managed to see the magnificent seven! (Rhino, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Cheetah and Wild Dog) Warrens wisdoms: "If you should ever face a lion in the wild you need to be really quiet and calm and slowly take one step backwards, then a step to the right, another step backwards and again a step to the left just so you don't stand in your own shit"

"There is something about safari life that makes you forget all your
sorrows and feel as if you had drunk half a bottle of champagne
- bubbling over with heartfelt gratitude for being alive."

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take
but by the moments that take our breath away"

  3. Gorgeous photos! I stayed at the Kruger national park at the end of 2012! We managed to see the big seven too - the leopard was one of the first animals we spotted (on our own!) and he was really close! Going on safari is such an adventure!
