Dry Brushing Your Skin?

What if I told you there was a simple beauty ritual that only takes a few minutes of your time and helps your body inside as well as out? Brighter looking, beautifully soft and smooth skin? - ahm yes please? I guess most of us exfoliate the skin on our faces regularly once or twice a week, truth is, since our skin is our largest organ, our whole body could do with throughout regular exfoliation. The simple act of brushing our skin with a natural bristle body brush for just 5 minutes per day has benefits that go way beyond the surface...

Don't worry I'm not gonna bore you with a biology lecture about our skin today but here's some very useful information to understand why dry brushing is so beneficial for our skin. Our skin is an organ of elimination and plays a large role in daily detoxification. It's the first to show signs of imbalance in our body and it receives a third of all the blood that is circulated in our body. One third of your body’s toxins are excreted through the skin. Dry brushing basically helps to unclog pores and excrete these toxins that become trapped in the skin.

I did a lot of research before I looked into buying a dry brush and all its benefits intrigued me so I decided to give it a try. It’s been a game changer for me! I picked my dry brush up from The Body Shop and I can definitely recommend it, it's not too expensive and really does the job! I'll admit it's hard to remember to dry brush your skin every day at first, especially for lazy people like myself but it is so worth the extra time. I'm now dry brushing my skin every single day before I go to bed or take a shower. It's recommended to start by brushing the soles of your feet, working your way up your body towards your heart.

A lot of women have praised dry brushing in regards to cellulite and stretch marks reduction. It gets all the dead skin cells off and it helps the skin to more easily absorb the moisture you put on your skin, like lotions, body butters or oils. There are literally SO many health benefits, I obviously can't confirm every single one of them what I can say though is that my skin is feeling A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. It reduced stretch marks (they are hardly visible anymore), removes dead skin layers and tightens my skin. I just feel so much better overall.

If you should decide to try dry brushing yourself, (which I absolutely recommend!) use light pressure especially in the chest area, use a brush with natural bristles and moisturize your skin afterwards preferably with an organic lotion or moisturizer.

What do you think about dry brushing? Have you tried it?
