Hair Care Routine For Damaged Hair1 March 2015
Today I wanted to share my updated hair care routine with you guys! As I've mentioned before, one of my goals for 2015 is to grow out my natural hair colour and I'm getting there folks! Basically everything that's not bleached on my head is my natural hair colour and I'm digging it! Haven't seen this colour in a veeery long time, 7 years to be precise. Anyways, this is what I do/use to keep my locks healthy...
Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Shampoo & Conditioner (3€) - I swear by this shampoo and conditioner from the same range, nothing has ever left my hair feeling more silky soft and healthy. Ever since bleaching my hair, excessive amounts of hair fall out every time I wash it and as you can imagine my ends looked horrendous! I recently chopped two inches off my hair to get rid of the layers and split ends and my hair looks and feels so much better! Since I started using the shampoo I noticed that my hair doesn't fall out anymore while washing, it feels very gentle on the scalp, leaving my hair feeling light and soft with absolutely no product residue. My hair structure is very damaged, so my hair is completely unmanageable while it's still wet, however, I find that the conditioner really helps with that. I don't get any frizz or flyaways, instead my ends feel like silk and definitely more hydrated.
I usually wash my hair 2-3 times a week, I even tried washing it only once a week but that absolutely didn't work for me. I can't stand the greasy feel of my hair. Dry shampoo is a real savior for my hair sometimes. The ones I very much enjoy using are the Dove Style+Care Dry Shampoo (5€) or Colab Dry Shampoo (3€). The thing is, I can't let my hair air dry, otherwise it gets tangled and knotted so I always blow dry my hair on the cold setting, I find that this method makes my hair super soft and shiny. Blow drying on a high heat setting isn't really for me unless I want my hair to look like roasted straw. Not a cute look! I definitely recommend using a wide tooth comb to detangle your hair while it's still wet too if you're like me and can't use a standard hair brush!
Once or twice a week I make sure that I use a proper hair mask, I love using olive oil, it is one of the top oils that can penetrate the hair. Olive oil also contains anti-inflammatory properties that promote scalp health and prevent dandruff! - Awesome right?
