If you guys follow my Snapchat then you might have already seen that I went snowboarding for the first time on Sunday. We went to a small resort near Mons because it's not too busy there and we thought it would be a perfect place for beginners. Learning how to snowboard was actually really fun and once you get the hang of it you really don't want to stop. Luckily, my cousin is a snowboarding expert and he taught me a few tips and tricks that made the whole experience more enjoyable. So I thought I would share a few things that I've learned from my first ever snowboarding experience covering everything from equipment to beauty essentials you might need up the mountain.

CHOOSE COMFORTABLE SNOWBOARD BOOTS
Everyone told me that it's so important to wear comfortable boots and it makes sense. You will spend all day in these boots and pain would ruin the whole experience. I chose to wear rental boots and I actually had to go up a size. Your toes shouldn't touch the front and make sure that your heels don't lift up too much in the back. Also, thick, good quality socks will make your first day snowboarding so much better.

INVEST IN GOOD QUALITY SNOWBOARDING GEAR
Renting equipment is perfectly fine for beginners, but it's actually quite expensive in the long run and I think a proper fitting makes a huge difference. Luckily, I only had to rent the boots because we already have snowboards. I wore a really warm hoodie, thermal leggings from Topshop, and a pair of ski trousers. Also, make sure that your gloves are super waterproof and warm. Especially as a beginner you'll spend a lot of time on the ground trying to push yourself up again so I highly recommend bringing spare pair of gloves that you can swap once your first pair gets soaked.

PACK YOUR ESSENTIALS
It's not a bad idea to bring a bag up the mountain where you can keep all your essentials that you might need that day. We packed water, snacks, spare pairs of gloves and most importantly sunscreen! Snow reflects 80% of UV reflection so the sun exposure is extremely high. I used the Bioderma Photoderm Max 50+ Fluid and I didn't get burned at all. I also recommend using SPF on your lips.

SPEED IS YOUR FRIEND
I had to learn it the hard way but everything you do on your snowboard will become easier when you're fast. You will get so sick of constantly getting stuck that you will realize that speed is your friend. I definitely had to step out of my comfort zone but I was so happy that I did. Try not to be scared and most importantly, just have fun!

BE PREPARED FOR A DAY FULL OF MUSCLE ACHES
Oh hell yes. Your forearms, legs and bum will probably hurt a lot after your first day of snowboarding but you know what - it's totally worth it. I definitely recommend doing some squats and push ups before your first day so your muscles warm up and get ready. Stretching is also very important.

Have you guys been snowboarding before? What are your tips and tricks? :)
